Bernhard Kösling arranged these trios based on Joseph Haydn's own 126 "Divertimenti per il Pariton a tre", which were composed by Haydn for Prince Esterhazy, who played the principal voice on his Baryton. This instrument did not attain popularity, and Haydn himself authorized arrangements of his Divertimenti for other instrumentations. The movements have been put together according to their tonality and time of origin.
