Amand Vanderhagen moved to Paris in 1775 and worked there as a celebrated flutist and clarinettist, composer and arranger. However, he focussed mainly on his work as a teacher. He published several clarinet tutors (i.e.„Methode nouvelle“ 1796) and was appointed professor at the newly founded Conservatoire.
